Faq's
A couple who intends to be married in New York State must apply in person for a marriage license to any town or city clerk in the state. The application for a license must be signed by both applicants in the presence of the town or city clerk. A representative cannot apply for the license on behalf of the applicant.

Couples will be able to electronically pay their fee using the city’s secure electronic payment service, CityPay. Once the site is live, New Yorkers who would like to obtain a marriage license will soon be able to do so by visiting https://www.cityclerk.nyc.gov/content/
One witness. You and your prospective spouse must arrive together with the same proper identification you brought when you obtained your marriage license. You and your prospective spouse must have at least one witness, who must be 18 years of age or over. The witness or witnesses must bring proper identification.
Ceremony appointments are scheduled with Rev. Bell, after purchasing the marriage license. For an out-of-county marriage license, either Party A or Party B may visit an office to pay for the ceremony and make an appointment. Please bring the original marriage license. A ceremony may be rescheduled once without an additional fee.
As a resident of the great state of New York, you have a statutory right to inspect the public records using the state’s Freedom of Information Law (FOIL). New York birth, death, marriage, and divorce records are handled primarily by the Vital Records Office at the New York State Department of Health (DOH).
